LATEST NEWS:
CMP RADIO IS CLOSING THIS YEAR
IT HAS BEEN ANOUNCED BY THE CMP MANAGEMENT TEAM THAT CMP RADIO WILL CLOSE AT THE END OF 2004.
THIS IS THE LETTER THAT HAS BEEN SENT TO EVERYONE FROM CMP:
Over the past 4 weeks, CMP Radio has been negotiating a
tailored music licence that will allow the station to operate successfully under the strict new terms, introduced recently.
Unfortunately these negotiations have not been met with 100% success, although we were not rejected a licence to continue
broadcasting, the remaining terms set out by the licensing bodies would make the operation of CMP Radio so difficult, that
the fun and enjoyment will be almost totally obliterated.
These new terms coupled with the recent increased workload
of the station operation and the ever-rising financial burden, have forced us to make a very hard decision.
It is with
great sadness that we have to announce that CMP Radio will cease broadcasting from the end of 2004. This decision was not
at all easy to make and we can assure you all that every option has been looked into.
We want to ensure that we go
out with a bang and encourage everyone to make a special effort in the shows leading up to Christmas and the New Year. We
are hoping to culminate the closing down with an "OB" style broadcast with management, at a single location and will be making
every effort to make the show as enjoyable as possible.
Please can we ask you to not pursue any form of "Save CMP"
petition or bombard the music licensing authorities with mail in any form, as this will only be a detriment towards any future
projects that we may want to pursue.
Although this news will have come as a huge shock to you all, we hope that you
will look on into the future and the many possibilities still open to the CMP team, in projects that we will continue to develop
and build upon, using the fantastic experience gained from our 1 and a half years of outstanding broadcasting.
May
we take this opportunity to wish everyone the luck they deserve in their media careers and can we also say a massive heart-felt
thank you for the overwhelming support we have received during our time on air - we really really couldn't have done without
any of you.
The last thing we want now is to lose contact with any of you, and each and every user on CMP Radio will
have a place in any future projects we may persue.
Thank you again for all your fantastic support!
Chris, Dave,
Aaron, Dan and Ben CMP Management
